CosmoCaixa, the science museum in Barcelona

CosmoCaixa - Science Museum. The interactive science museum. Our recommendation for the CosmoCaixa visit: the Barcelona Card. Content of this Page. The Museum CosmoCaixa. Interesting Information about Visiting the CosmoCaixa. Scientific Experiments at CosmoCaixa for joining in. Why CosmoCaixa is worth visiting.

The Museum CosmoCaixa, pronounced \"caisha\" for science, was built for 100 million euro and opened in 2005. It is one of Barcelona's most popular museums.

Albert Einstein, a prominent figure in Catalan art nouveau, welcomes guests to the entrance hall of modernisme (the Catalan modernisme) building. It was once a factory. The statue of Einstein at the information desk almost looks real.

Visitors are transported 30m down to the 5th floor via a huge spiral that winds around an Acariquara tropical tree.

One of Europe's most famous museums is the CosmoCaixa. It is managed by the social Foundation \"la Caixa\".

CosmoCaixa doesn't just focus on looking. It is a hands-on museum that offers many opportunities to explore every corner. Different scientific disciplines will be explained interactively and didactically. In hundreds of experiments, you can explore mathematical, physical, geological, chemical, and technical relations by yourself. Children love to explore topics that may not be the most popular in school.

Once you are down in the basement floor, the first thing you see is an escalator that leads to a higher floor. But the CosmoCaixa wouldn't enjoy such a good reputation world-wide if you could not already see the first attractions: the outside of the escalator is made of glass so that you can look right into it and see how it works.
