Academie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique (ARB)<br/ >This institution was founded as the \"Societe litteraire du Bruxelles\" on 12 January 1769. It was converted into an Academy by the Empress Marie–Therese on 16 December 1772. King Leopold I gave new Statutes to the Academy on 1 December 1845. They still govern it today.

The Academy is composed of 90 members, 60 correspondents, and 150 associates (foreign member). It is divided into three classes: Sciences, Letters, Moral and Political Sciences, Fine Arts, and Sciences. Each Class includes 30 members, 20 correspondents, and 50 associates.

Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts, (KVAB).<br/ >The Royal Decree from 16 March 1938 established this institution. His Majesty King Albert II signed new statutes and a new title (Royal Decree December 2, 1998). It is similar to the Academie Royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique. However, each Class has only 10 corresponding members, along with 30 foreign members. Both Academies are patronized by His Majesty King Albert II.

The ARB, the KVAB and other organizations co-sponsor a variety of committees and activities.
