Abingdon is conveniently located just a few minutes from Oxford's cultural and academic center and within easy reach to London's international airports. This makes it an ideal place for overseas boarders. Abingdon has had boarding as a hallmark throughout its history. It attracts students from all over the world as well as students from local areas.
Our school is academically selective and our exam results are always excellent. Students in the Fifth Year typically take ten GCSEs. In the Sixth Form, they follow both A-level and Pre-U curriculums. Flexible Sixth Form schedules allow pupils to choose from a variety of subject combinations among the 25 subjects available. All of these subjects meet rigorous academic standards. A typical year sees 40% of sixth-form students achieve A* or A grades or equivalent in at least three subjects at A level. A specialist team of career advisors supports the Sixth Form in university applications. Each year, Abingdon students go on to study at top universities including the Russell Group and Ivy League. The UK's most popular universities include Oxford and Cambridge (9 Oxbridge places are available to Oxbridge students in 2022), and the London institutions of Imperial, LSE and King's Colleges. Our students are currently enrolled at universities in Toronto, Hong Kong and Auckland as well as a number of US campuses, including Yale. Engineering, Medicine, Economics and the Humanities are all popular subjects.
