Qingdao World Expo City lies in the coastal core of the central vitality zone on the west coast. It is located on a hillside close to the ocean. China Railway Group, one of the top 500 companies in the world, invested 50 billion dollars and had it designed by China Architecture Design and Research Institute. The area is more than 3,000 acre. The expo city is a high-quality, low-carbon blue ecological complex integrating exhibitions, conferences, hotels, real estate, commerce and culture. It also integrates tourism, leisure, and other functions.
A new pre-stressed steel cable arch with a sectional height of 500mm and a span up to 48m is used to create the lightest possible structural form.
The China Architecture Design and Research Institute designed the project, incorporating soft marine cultural elements and using "Langyatai", a local historical relic, as its model. This reflects the organic unity between Chinese traditional culture and maritime culture and is rich in visual rhythm and aesthetic impact. In all areas, the pursuit of zero-energy consumption is a reflection of a deep sense of science and technological understanding.
